You can still cut where the video shows. Then use your pliers to turn the end at least a quarter turn, if not more. Then twist so the first one you do it is against the edge and cut/crimp the other end. You want a little play but not too much. Good luck! ~Chelsea

This video neglects to mention that you need to keep squeezing after making the cut and make a slight clockwise twist to get the bend. Not twisting just cuts the coil.

I'm following your excellent video but mine just cuts and doesn't crimp. Looks like I'm using the same crimper in your video and so I'm wondering if it's because of a low quality coil or because it's such a small coil (1/4")

what if i don't have the special pliers? i have the coil and hole-punched papers. where should i cut and how should i wrap around the ends with regular pliers?

Actually, the little kink it creates at the end will keep it from coming unwound.

Ok...that isn't cutting it correctly because it will come unbound.
