let's just take a look at the weems & plath weather station I got from west marine, brass plated enclosure, with plastic lens, the clock lasted for less then a year the item includes barometer, humidiy/temp, and clock, on a mahogany board, the instruments are 2-1/.2 inches in dia. I removed the clock from the board, (3 small screws), notice a solder connection had not been done properly, called weems&playth and was told it was under warranty, after wiping clock, making it all shiny looking and new, sent it in, being that this was the start of the coronavirus lock down, they couldn't get to it, 3 weeks later I got an email, saying the clock had suffer water damage, that was impossible since it had been on the shelf on my boat, which had never been out to sea, I live aboard, and go sailing on other friends boats, besides my diesel is dead on my boat. they sent me a invoice for 89$ to repair. I told them to send it back, for whick they wanted 5$, finally getting it back. there was a piece of scotch tape stuck to the lens, and on the brass was large spot of tarnish, now my clock worked intermittently, this one didn't work at all. I took the clock apart the movement was made in germany, plastic gears, plastic case, I looked it up on the internet and found a place in England that supplied the same size movement plus hands for 2.49 pounds or roughly 5$ US, , I ordered it and within 10 days, I had the package and my clock back on the board with more distinctive hands and working fine, quartz movement and silent no tick tick tick.. very satisfied with it now, as far as weems and plath I would never shop there again, and I recommend others to wary of them as well.
