Culture has changed since Lincoln's time, and interpreting their behaviour by today's standards easily leads one to erroneous conclusions. I'm in my 70s and I grew up in Rhodesia/Zimbabwe. Among the local Shona people it was very common for male friends to hold hands while walking - and I assure you they were not gay, it was just part of their culture. Of course some woke-infected American academic observing it would totally misinterpret such behaviour!

I've shared a bed with my best friend on more than one occasion. As circumstances were such that space was limited as well as other factors. I also tell him that I love him and his family because I do. This is a friend in the truest sense of the word. Proven, and friends for more than a decade. A friendship proven and forged through adversity. He was there for me saving my life while in a coma for 3 months.

I have never once asked myself if Abraham Lincoln was gay. The only thing I care about is his accomplishments. Everything else is just the toy.
