Listen to “Say Goodbye To Mum And Dad”:

Video Directed by Maschima
Video Produced by Dilly Gent (Son & Heir)

Lyrics
Say goodbye to Mum and Dad
Say hello to all the ghosts of Leningrad
Everything is up for grabs
Go tell all your friends society’s gone mad

God is wise and Jesus loves us all

It’s no life this island of fear
When tomorrow comes
We’ll brave the wild frontier
Get out this place
Inside, outside, nowhere to hide
When tomorrow comes we’ll face the great divide

Say goodbye to mum and dad
(say goodbye to what we had)
It’s a dusty road of faded photographs
Wipe that welcome from the mat
(walk the dog and feed the cat)
Things are broken now, they’re never coming back

God is wise and Jesus loves us all

It’s no life this island of fear
When tomorrow comes
We’ll brave the wild frontier
Get out this place
Inside, outside, nowhere to hide
When tomorrow comes we’ll face the great divide

Curt Smith's bass lines continue to amaze me with sonic colors. So inspiring.

I lost my mom three years ago; my dad this year. The lyrics and visuals nail that feeling of not being able to go back and being forced to explore the unknown alone like an astronaut without them.

True giants of creativity! Some musical bands are the authors of one hit (or album), but TFF is an inexhaustible source of the best songs that replenish the musical treasury of humanity.

It’s amazing how their new songs have such a familiarity to them. It’s like reconnecting with an old friend. You can feel the influence of more recent experiences yet the original foundation is still there. Beautiful!

I still remember one day in 1985 I was in a fast food restaurant in my city and I saw this guy with the album Songs from the big chair in his hands that he had just bought at the record store across the street. I was 16 ! I'm 55 now and TFF is releasing a new single and album... It's the dream ! 🙂

I have all their albums and I am also pretty good at picking up when a new group is influenced by or sounds like an older one.... That being said, Its hard for me to think of a newer group that really reminds me of Tears For They, and a lot of other groups of that era, had a vulnerability that's been somewhat lost over the years, especially for male musicians. The Hurting still is one of the best albums to me.

Roland & Curt, you are with me and I with you forever, already in the past, your work has become perfect, but this song surpasses everything. That's exactly why I'm paying the full version of Spotify to support this immortal band at least a little bit.

Im super STOKED for this new album. TFF never seized to amaze me. This new album has such an 80s nostalgia to it. Growing up in the 80s and with TFF was the absolute best. Thank you, Roland and Curt, for helping to mold me into the woman I am today.

I saw the Songs From the Big Chair tour. It hard to believe they’re still making great music.
