How to Spot a Mcdojo

here are some typical things you find in commercialized martial arts schools. Even if your school does one of the following does not mean it’s a bad school but if it all applies to your school it may be a mcdojo

Correction:
• When you are paying for promotions.
• When you don't do sparring.
• When what you're learning doesn't work if/when you do sparring.
• If your coach mentions stuff like pressure points, glands, bladders or whatever other nonsense they make up.

What people wear, how old they are and so on doesn't matter. If what you're learning works well on trained fighters, you're learning actual martial arts.

Here’s one red flag out of many. If your instructor teaches you no-touch knockouts and says that his or her style is superior to any other style out there. That’s when you’ve got to run.

My problem is being OVERLY suspicious and never settling on a Dojo that fits for what I'm looking for. :'(

My instructor was 33 years old when he earned his 4th Dan in Isshinryu Karate. He is now 55 years old and both he and his wife hold 7th Dan in Isshinryu and max rank in Krav Maga.

My dojo realized students wore shirts more than their gis, so they made it mandatory to wear full uniform on non-sparring days. What do yall think? Is this a McDojo?

None of these apply to the dojo I train at, except my instructor is 30 & 5th Dan, but he’s been doing it for 20 years

When you aren’t allowed to cross train
If your instructor claims he can never be defeated
If the diplomas or the wall decorations have Japanese characters that even someone fluent in Japanese can’t decipher or it translates to gibberish.

I live far away from the Dojos even though I wanted to practice martial arts and McDojos are notorious for being spread out alot across cities, so I never really tried to go to a Dojo and just practice it in my own house

I train in a kyokushin dojo and on my uniform I only have the kyokushin logo and the kwu

and then the McDojo is named “Xtreme Fire Tiger Dragon Destroyer Ultra Mega Ninja Killer Karate” and then under it is “New fast track to black belt deal now!”
