I feel like that’s the smile of someone who thought they would never get to do that again.

My husband had a total hip replacement 4 months ago at the age of 49. This little sh!t was out mowing the lawn 5 days postop. Warned him slow down, but I have no pain now. You will, it's doing good. Now I had bilateral sacral fusions done 5 years ago 4 months apart. I was homebound the first couple weeks, omfg was I in so much pain. I was downstairs, bed in the living room for 6 months, issuing a walker 6 weeks after each procedure. My husband had to shower with me the first 2 weeks, help me dress, and tie my shoes for me.
He was mowing the yard 6 days postop, I wasn't total weight bearing for 6 weeks.
No though I'm so grateful he bounced back so effortlessly, cause I can't. I wound up throwing a DVT ( blood clot to the legs usually) 5 days after the second surgery which hurt worse than the actually surgery. I also had a TIA 10 days after the DVT.

I don’t have a hip after sepsis eating away at all of the cartilage in my joint. You take Medicaid? 😭😭😭 I’m 26 and have been living with it for 3 years. The pain is unbearable. I am now a recovering addict as well because of getting addicted to pain meds. I’m so happy this guy was able to get his hip fixed! I pray one day I will be able to rollerblade again. 😭

I can't even tell I had anything done with the one I had. I can bend and touch the floor, do various exercises, do yard work, and even took a slight tumble backward when yanking and slipping after pulling on the wheelbarrow. I need to have both knees done now...I have a feeling that is going to be a little different. I think the best thing to do is to not even think of the fact you had surgery, just get back into regular life.

Yes, direct anterior approach along with a BHR prosthesis works well.

Man I wish you were my mom's Dr. She's gotten two double hip replacement surgeries and is in absolute hell. My heart hurts for her everyday. She sacrificed her body mind and soul for our County and the health care she receives us terrible. They treat her like a stray dog. Our VA hospitals gotta do better!

I’m fighting this battle right now. After 41 years of martial arts, kickboxing, boxing, jiu jitsu- I am at the bone on bone stage with my left hip.
I have zero intentions to give up martial arts. It’s encouraging to see that this can be successfully done. I’m starting with platelet injections on Monday. 😢

I live in France (well known for their hip surgeries quality) and have been put a ceramic on ceramic total arthroplasty on the right hip by anterior incision. (The femoral stem was custom made, I had to do a 3D scan before)

And my surgeon (which is one of the best hip surgeon in France for athletes) has told me MMA will be okay, as new studies shows no difference in hip dislocations and/or wear with high impact activities vs non high impact activities. It’s been 3 weeks now, my surgeon just told me to go very slow with PT

No PT for the first month, then slow mobility work and massages, then slowly trying to gain muscle back without going to fast with it. And after 3 months I should be living normally and be completely set after 6months.

The key is to not rush the healing process. (And of course anterior way. Custom hip replacement is a new technology that apparently does wonders!!)
