Rick James & Teena Marie ~ Fire & Desire 1981 Soul Purrfection Version

This is Motown at its very finest, elegant music sung by a wonderful duo of Rick James and Teena Marie. Their sweet harmonizing on the top of the throwback style shuffle beat that was hidden deep in the original mix which was more aggressive. This made me cry and I tell you that is the very best thing I could have done, I have been super stressed lately and it felt good to let go of negative emotions. It put me in the right frame of mind to do this soothing remix.

Here is my tribute to two departed artists who were darlings of the R&B crowd, not so much pop though, which is a shame. I tried to warm up the mix by making it sound more intimate at the start and slowly builds until the end.

This song was an album track on his landmark punk funk LP "Street Songs" that contained "Super Freak" and "Give It To Me Baby" and yet it does not sound out of place. Their vocal attitudes update the classic Motown sound and is one of those hidden treasures the company is famous for.

It is just too pretty to hold on to and since Friday is still a few days off I thought I would give you this to help you through Wednesday hump day...or into hump today. It's so romantic and they both have an incredibly strong vocals yet able to convey a delicate lyric in a way that warms the heart.

I have gone back to work full time this past Monday and things were feeling a little shaky now with all the covid variants out there until I stumbled on this one, it inspired me and I hope it inspires you.

To all the people who say that they're happy they didn't grown up in this era, I am. I still get to listen to this and everything like it every single day of my life. 95k minutes of music listened to im 2021 and I can say that good music is simply good music no matter how you want to look at it. Is the greatest concerts I’ve ever seen is Rick James, and he brought Teena Marie on the stage and they sang this song… First of all that chemistry between the two of them and they were singing was unbelievable I will never forget that evening watching them perform this song, 18, 000 people just hypnotize absolutely a great memory for me

I remember when Ghetto Life came out, listening to it & this song came on & what good vocals Rick had. Then Teena came on & blew me away. I didn't know her at the time. She became a favorite of mine. She was AWESOME!
