I really need to make a decision on a 50cc scooter. My budget is sub $2000. Used for a 4 mile round trip to and from work. No main roads.

For old men who are allowed to drive an Am "moped" on a car lisence: there's a lot to be said for a 50cc. Great fun and practical for short distances

I've been a motorcycle rider for 35 years and now I'm wanting a 50cc just to avoid paying registration and insurance. I've bought an electric bike and now I'm looking for a 50cc moped.

Hi Chris
over here in holland as a 16 year old 50cc mopeds and scooters are the only options ( well theres also microcars and tractors available at that age but both are extremely expensive) you have. that being said my 50 cc tomos (slovanian brand) is very enjoyable to ride. I equipped it with an expansion exhaust ( it is an 2 stroke) which makes it nicely quick. I also think that our infrastructure is better suited for mopeds than in great britain ( yellow plate mopeds/scooters go on the carriage way except when there is a special road sign which means you got to go on the bycycle lane). it is also a bit of culture here to tune your mopeds/ scooters especially with 2 strokes. However if you get caught by police ( on a roller bench check placed on a parking lot you have to follow a police motor cycle to the check point) if the vehicle is capable of going 10 km/h faster than the liscense plate restricts they will suspend your liscense plate.

It’s a wiz once derestricted and sound like a 125 with the right exhaust mine consistently get to 40mph and even 46mph on a flat. Talking about the 2022 Yamasaki ym50-RE

Hi Chris,
Great and informative video, everything the new riders need to know. Nice and clear advice.
Great to see you are branching out and now doing more information videos.
You will get there mate 👍, it's not easy running a business, add your you tube channel and the time it takes up makes it a difficult balancing act.
Your going the right way mate.

nothing in the description or title says anything about motorcycles. This was supposed to be a video about mopeds and there are no mopeds shown.

My first scooter was a 50cc 2 stroke scooter.
Speedwise, maxed at 90km/h downhill (was derestricted), 70/80kmh flat.
Downside? Fuel consumption. 4L/100
New 50cc on scooters are gutless, slow.
Id rather say, go instead for a 125

a lot of people are just building a custom ebike that goes faster than a 50cc moped scooter and some ride them illegally on a puplic road and paths

Hi Chris, I'm 20 years old (21 in a month or two) and a university student. Have a full uk drivers license for over a year and not got a car. Wanted to grab a little 50cc as a run-around to help with student costs haha. Found quotes looking at around £300 a year on insurance which is fantastic. If I was to complete my CBT should I still go for a 50cc or should I just grab a 125 instead. In a bit of a pickle because of it haha.

I would stay away from a 50cc and get a 125cc or 150cc if you want to ride on anything but 25 mph roads. In the U.S. a 50cc scooter with hit 40 mph, but takes forever to get there.

I found a Vespa Sprint 2T that's from 2015 and looks like new in the photos he sent me. Originally a 50 cc, it's been upgraded to a 70 cc engine. Is it worth $2400? Or should I buy a cheap bicycle or ciao Piaggio moped for now´, just to get around town this Summer and save up for a motorcycle license costing $3500, then invest in a real Vespa 300 cc or motorcycle instead? I'm wondering about the value for money and if the 70 cc upgrade offers significant advantages over the 50 cc. What are your thoughts on starting out with 70 cc?
I'd appreciate your advice so I don't end up regretting a second-hand Vespa purchase online. Thanks for your insights!
