500,000 Hackers Banned in Overwatch 2

Season 12 starts tomorrow and Blizzard is implementing new Anti-Cheat to crack down on hackers. Already 500,000 accounts have been banned as well as 40,000 for grouping with hackers.

The streamlined report system is huge for console. Many N bombs have gone unreported or later reported because trying to report mid match on a controller would likely kick you for inactivity

1:20 the fact that they just performed a ban wave and are confident enough to talk about it is probably because they did patch the exploit or find a way to detect the specific methods that people were employing to cheat. This means that now cheaters will have to find a different "backdoor" if they want to bypass the system. This makes old cheating softwares obsolete and so it really is preventing new cheaters from joining.

New or old I’m glad they’re getting rid of cheaters. I wish Apex legends had half the concern about cheating. Cheats were put on pros during a tournament ffs

I’m not quite sure you are suggesting increasing aim assist on controllers will help fix the mkb problem on console, but if you are, I don’t think you understand the issue. Controllers aim assist is just fine, mkb cheaters elect to use mkb masking devices so they get the benefit of mkb and aim assist. It makes it about as close to aim bot type accuracy without going actual aim bot. Increasing aim assist would only exacerbate the problem. I think going the other way would help the problem much more. Mkb cheaters have bad aim, it’s why they’re cheating, take away the aim assist.

For some reason this reminded me of the old story from season 1-2 of Overwatch 1 in 2016 when a female pro player got accused by another pro player of cheating in Korea and said he'd quit if she wasn't. A TV crew filmed her playing (Overwatch was insanely loved and popular back then) and showed she was legit. The guy apologized and retired.

The reason improving aim assist wouldn’t help with the XIM issue is because XIM users GET AIM ASSIST. That’s why it is such a huge exploit. They get the benefits of MnK and they get aim assist since the system sees their input as a controller. XIM USERS ARE CHEATERS AND ALL MUST BE BANNED. Still a big issue on console despite what they say. I still see blatant XIM users in Diamond on Console regularly.

1750 games won is such a ridiculously high number it's actually mind baffling that not 1 single team member went "hey are we sure we really need to set the bar THIS high, assuming 100% winrate is our system for detecting cheaters really SO UNBELIEVABLY BAD that 500 games isn't enough?"

I've been playing for 6 years, main account has 1k hours logged, I am 2/3 of the way to even qualifying for streamer mode

Does that include bots? I've seen quite a few recently. If you go training then VS AI, you'd sometimes see a group of new accounts with unintelligble names and would have characters that barely move or do basic movements (including running into walls) then they all drop out midway. I think they are testing their bots.
