In all honesty, I get the idea of bondage, giving and taking control can be hot, but I will never understand people who have to have pain or worse, give pain to be aroused. I mean, I am a red-blooded woman we all have fantasized about being picked up and thrown on a bed etc but that is just passion it isn't being whipped. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

I get this is suppossed to be romanticized but this movie gets the concept of BDSM entirely wrong. You wouldn't bring up having a BDSM relationship to a virgin or some random person you just met because they'll run away and never want to speak to you again. You genuinely need to already have a loving and caring relationship with the person and trust them entirely. If either one of you breaks the others trust they'll feel incredibly hurt, That's why contracts exist and if anything changes and one of you no longer feels comfortable with something you need to communicate with each other and respect each others boundaries entirely.
