Making Playspaces Inclusive: Introduction

We wanted to show play through the eyes of children and young people with diverse disabilities.
10 volunteered to help us.

We were also curious about how inclusive playspaces support childrens’ play.

But, the problem was we needed methods that allowed the children to show us their play.
So, we gave the children filming equipment (Handycams and gopros), GPS Trackers and Accelerometers. They used the devices to show us where and how they play!

All the footage and description are from and led by children.

Through the following four films we show how children helped us see that -their play is diverse, they direct and observe in play and that the objects in a playground can support play.
