2:10 You could change the CPU in any Mac Pro before.
4:40 If you consider 95 degrees cool, then yes. The Mac Pro will go up to 95 degrees and then decrease the clock speed, since the fan can not keep up with the heat at 100% fan speed. But I still think that the Mac Pro is a masterpiece in terms of technical engineering.

Uhhh the earlier MacPro was/is 100% upgradeable.

You can make fun of the "trashcan" design all you want but that doesn't change the fact that there is some incredible engineering behind this. If you guys would have some engineering background, you would know. Of course many of you don't so it's easy to make fun of. This is a masterpiece through the engineering point of view. There is no mobile components in it, only high end desktop/workstation components fit in that 9" case which btw is all cooled through the thermal core cooling system. Low heat and noise for what it is.That is pretty damn amazing. All this is of course overlooked by many people, mainly PC users. I am myself both a PC user and a Mac user. I only use the PC for gaming and the Mac for everything else. I love my PC for what it is but now that I am older (late 20's) I tend to use my Mac much more, and obviously but sadly, I play a lot less games.

You can change the CPUs in the old Mac Pro and what you're missing completely, is that professionals use a lot of custom asic hardware, often running plugins costing way more than the trashcan. You can't change the bus systems every 5 minutes and still expect professionals to buy your stuff. Not happening.

I remember watching UnboxTherapy's vid and he was saying that you'll have to spend over $10, 000 to future proof this thing to the max. You still can't do things like change the graphics or add more graphics etc... If you're looking for a workstation to future proof don't buy this, just make a custom PC. BUUUT if you're looking for a portable powerhouse of a workstation, than this is probably the one for you!!!

I know this comment it 3 years late, but I consider the 2010-2012 Mac Pros to be the apex of Mac development. CPUs are upgradeable to dual Xeons at 3.4 gig with 12 cores. I am running two GTX 980s and 64 gigs of ECC RAM. I got the Mac Pro for a song and even with the upgrades, SSD boot drive, USB 3 card, video cards, etc. I am way under $2k including 27" Apple Cinema Display.

The mac pro is one of the first apple computers that i really think has a great value. If you were to put together a machine that has identical/comparable fire pro/quadro graphics cards, it would cost much more than the mac pro. And it would be much more clunkier and non-sleek. This is coming from somebody that builds computers on the side, but sometimes people want something that looks professional and doesn't look like a "gaming computer". This is a workstation! Nice video :)

I just bought my first Mac Pro 2015, but I'm going to buy upgrades for it.

Here are my specs:
3.7GHz quad-core with 10MB of L3 cache (Going to buy the Intel Xeon E5-2697 v2, 12 Core 2.7GHz)
12GB (3x4GB) of 1866MHz DDR3 ECC (Going to buy 64GB DDR3 1866MHz ECC RAM)
256GB PCIe-based flash storage (Higher than 1TB PCIE Flash-based Storage)
Dual AMD FirePro D700 GPUs with 6GB of GDDR5 VRAM each (Maxed out GPU's)
Magic Mouse 2
Magic Keyboard - US English
User's Guide (International English)

Great video! The price is the killer since you can build a comparable PC for cheaper. But that being said if size and heat are a concern this isn't a bad way to go. Plus it can run Windows so you can actually utilize that power :P

So many people hating on this "Trash can", without any valid reasons, other than the price. I'll be honest, I hate most  Apple products. But this is an incredible piece of engineering, and no other company has pulled off something like this, nor will any other company any time soon. I think it's ahead of it's time in it's size and design, and I bet other companies will be matching this in 3-4 years time. I won't be buying it, but I like it. People who hate on it lack some serious logic.

Men, try to set up the same spec on a PC and it'll be 2x more expensive, no kidding, it's like 2 W9000 ( 3500 each ) and a Xeon for 1000 bucks, this a heck of a deal ! I personaly don't know much about mac, but do the comparaison before critisizing

The intro was the best! It looks better with the cover off.
