Thats an Oscar winning punt return. He's lucky he didn't get his clock cleaned.

You can see 31 immediately second-guess himself, but the returner played it so cool, he figured he must have really called for a fair catch. 😂

Coach: We want you to field the punt and then stand there until the other team figures you made a fair catch.
Me: Are you going to pay my hospital bills?

Hilarious. I've seen this done several times in grade school football, but never college and above. Can't believe they fell for it.

He is very lucky they other team wasn't paying very good attention. If they were he was going to be hit harder than me when my dad gets home.

One of the greatest moments my school’s team ever had. Was awesome to watch this season as a student at UNT. Go mean green !

Definitely a planned play. That's really good officiating to not blow whistle, but he may have been alerted.

A local radio station interviewed the punt returner and head coach. Here's a few interesting things that were said:
1. The punt returner said he heard the Arkansas player close to him ask why they didn't blow the whistle.
2. The head coach (Seth Littrell) came from North Carolina and said they tried to run this same play against Wake Forest (I believe) a few years ago and it would've worked had the officials not blown the whistle. He told the officials in the pre-game meeting they might run this play so watch for the fair catch signal.
3. Prior to the kick, they told their offense and all of their players to stay on the sideline and not go onto the field even if it looked like the play was dead in case it worked.
Go Mean Green!!!

It's weird to think Arkansas used to compete in the SEC west with Alabama and LSU.

Taking advantage of a rule designed to protect the punt returner. Really can’t feel sorry for him if he gets torpedoed and ends up on a stretcher if he tries it again

That is pretty hilarious! That being said, people will be tackling real fair catches for a few years now.

These days you can’t risk hitting the returner when you see him standing still it’s not worth the risk of getting in trouble and thrown out especially with these new rules
