Max says she can still save Safi if she can prevent her murder, but if Chloe dying is canon here, wasn't the lesson there that you can't alter the timeline without serious consequences, and that's why her best friend needed to be sacrificed? It's like she didn't learn anything from that

For anyone wondering, her new powers are ones she has in the life is strange comics, which confirm that every ending is Canon. This story is just following a version of max that sacrificed Chloe. The comics follow the sacrifice Arcadia Bay ending and are a fantastic read

My theory: Max somehow managed to use her super power to jump into a parallel timeline where she can find peace. She made her new best friend Safi but she gets the same fate as Chloe. Different timeline but the similar murder mystery that haunts down Max. Jumping across both past and present timelines Max tries to find clues to save her present. Wouldn’t be surprised if Chloe cameo happens, even if it means hearing her voice to solve the case. 🤝

I don’t think without having Chloe connection to the story, Square Enix would pick similar sort of “murder case of max’s best friend” story again.

Timeline B is the timeline where Arcadia bay dies instead of Chloe.
