Animation Lessons—Layer Visibility

This lesson explains how to control layer visibility – including fading them in and out of the display – when you author animations in ArcGIS Pro.

Layer visibility can be a crucial element in the geographic story you want to tell in your video. For example, you might want your video to show the ‘before’ and ‘after’ maps for a neighborhood if a proposed highway is approved, or reveal hidden content such as the rooms, elevator shafts and staircases within a building.

In our example, we’ll be visually lining up a geolocated Japanese painting by Hokusai (circa 1829) with the virtual world to validate its estimated physical location.

• Capture layer visibility within a keyframe
• Preview your animation via playback
• Capture layer transparency within a keyframe
• Update an existing keyframe with new properties

It looks like the fourth key frame with the picture on it fades in. How did you achieve that effect? I can only fade a layer out and cannot seem to find any documentation on fading in. Thank you.
