Thank you, Camila. I read it. I found it good but not great. I loved the theme and the concept. It had some problems especially with voice. But it was good and I'm glad I read it. It doesn't stand up to the other books I've read on the women's prize longlist. It's been mentioned for the Pulitzer as well, but I don't think it's right for that prize either.

Its so interesting how we are viewing books. Never tought or considered the points you are raising (which are totally valid). I have read it and really loved it.

I’m actually more keen to read this now that I know that it’s got dark parts. I, like you, thought it was a more lighthearted read.
Thanks for the review 👍🏻

I have 4 weeks left on the library waitlist on this! What you said makes sense, I had a feeling that I was getting mixed messages on the tone of the book from marketing and reviews (even the covers)!

Hi Camila! Sorry, I’m behind on my Booktube watching due to my UK trip! I finished this book the other day, so I was very interested to hear your thoughts. I completely agree with you! I was expecting this to be one of my favourite books of the year, but I was underwhelmed. I love dogs, but didn’t enjoy the talking dog aspect. I felt it spent too long in the romance at the start. I wish there had been more of the cooking show and more evidence of women’s lives she was changing through the show. My book group is meeting tonight to discuss this book, so I’m very curious to hear their opinions! 😊📚

I really enjoyed this one and gave it 5 stars. The cover in the UK is different than the US cover which goes to your point about marketing. The US version makes it look like a Rom-Com, which I don't think it is -- at all.

I didn't have a niggling to read it before hearing your review, and now I REALLY don't! 😅
Thank you! I deeply appreciate the trigger warning and the misleading of the marketing.

I agree this was not womens prize material, but I enjoyed the totally unrealistic novel. It is a bit the big bang theory but feminist
