Ramandeep, Shashank, were good to be picked 3 years ago only but no one bid, now because of performances now everyone names them. Goodness of a player is seen by their play on first note itself were even a normal person like me can identify on first few game time, playness and matches but how do franchise skip them for no reason...
There are few players like them who look great in likes of sanvir singh, Naman dhir, arshad khan, darshan nalkande, Manoj bandage

Teams retain the player that will not available on the open market. These are things to consider.
A) high SR. Each team with look for batters who can play at high SR (either at the top or at death). Players with no weaknesses against spin or pace
B) Allrounders: Specially fast bowling allrounders. Hardik Padya is not the best batsman or the bowler. If there was no retention, he would command at least 20 crore.
C) Is he better than almost everyone else in either spin or fast bowling? (like Bumrah or Surya)
D) Someone whose name is discussed when talking about an alltime T20 elevan (Narine and Russel)

1) Narine. Other than Rashid Khan no other spinner can have as much success and consistency. His high SR batting means he is two players in one.
2) Russel: He is one of the best T20 players ever. His SR was 185 last year. Thats despite playing behind Rinku and Ramandeep. He was KKR's second best
3) Venkatesh Iyer: His SR over Shreyas Iyer is important. He is much more consistent. He can play fast bowlers. He can slide in if Narine fails, shreyas' weakness against moving or raising balls does not allow him to play at #3 (specially in T20). KKR can possibly buy Shreyas below 10 crore in the market. Venkatesh will command 12-15 crore. If there is no impact player, at 6'4" he can potentially bowl an over or two.

4) Chakaborty: He was probably one of the best spinners of IPL 2024 (if not the best). But it is possible to buy another spinner of similar quality as india is full of good spinners.

5) Rinku/Ramandeep: KKR needs one of them or both. Rinku's average was 18. It was probably a down season for him Ramandeep just played one season. He can be retained as an uncapped player.
6) Harshit Rana: Harshit Rana was KKR's best quick. If KKR can keep him and Russel, they need to find one other decent quick from the market.


Why not Shreyas? IPL 2024 was his best season. His best Strike rate. He was not in the top 50 of best SRs. KKR played on the most batting friendly wicket. KKR had 4 players in top 20 (Russel, Narine, Ramandeep, Salt) and V Iyer was at #32.

Say some other team gets Shreyas(KKR should try to get him in the open market). Nitish Rana can replace him easily.

Most difficult auction for the franchise. Seems like KKR will be born anew like a phoenix. We have lost all our players, our coaches, support staff on duty of country. Never before has a franchise been affected to this degree due to national commitment. In short, KKR has impressed BCCI so much they took the whole setup, a thing which no franchise can boast of. Well, new beginnings, lets see what's in store for this newly born KKR franchise.
