Where is the PlayStation Showcase? Latest Updates and Rumors Explained

For the last week, PlayStation fans have had one burning question: Where is the PlayStation Showcase 2024? Well, we finally have an answer, and it’s a classic good news/bad news scenario. Sony has not made any official statements, but fans are flooding social media with questions about the PlayStation event. Every big insider and leaker agreed there would be a PlayStation event in May. It’s now May 25th, the same date as the last PlayStation Showcase, and we still haven’t heard from Sony.

Legendary insider Jeff Grubb maintains the event is happening next week. Another insider, NateTheHate, has said it will be a State of Play happening early next week instead of a showcase. The difference is significant: PlayStation Showcases focus more on first-party games, whereas State of Plays are shorter and can focus on one game.

Despite the uncertainty, there’s a lot to look forward to. Sony’s latest live service game, Concord, will likely be featured. Horizon might get some attention, with a possible reveal of new projects. Most excitingly, we might see updates on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and its DLC, including Spider-Man 2 Carnage and Spider-Man 2 Beetle DLC.

Stay tuned for potential reveals about Marvel's Venom PS5 game. There are rumors about Marvel's Venom gameplay leaks and trailers, with Insomniac possibly working on a Venom spin-off game. As far as I can tell, the only difference between a Showcase and a State of Play is the length. So I don't see any problem with them doing a State of Play.

Of course, gamers will still bitch because gamers are only happy when they're miserable.

This is why leaks should always be taken with a grain of salt. Even if the leaker's known to be reliable, there's still an possibility they're wrong.

Where is the Spider-Man 2 DLC?? It’s been 7 months since release and we have yet to get an add on (not counting NG+/bug fixes). Pushing DLC back this long is gonna make coming back to play and grind a lot less appealing, at least for me.
