Guess I won't be seeing those hoped-for classical saxophone libraries from Spitfire any time soon then! :)

Googles Schnoofter: "Device for removing nasal or ear hair." A DAW keyword if ever I heard one. Love it. Will adopt.

Liam Gallagher and His Hatred of Saxophones - The Graham Norton Show

You seem to use Logic Pro as your only main DAW. Can you maybe explain the differences of using Logic compared to Pro Tools as a media composer? and which one you prefer or recommend. This is obviously assuming you have experience with Pro Tools also, as I see a lot of composers use it over Logic.

I'm sure there are far worse things to have I'm common with Liam Gallagher.

Very cheeky Mr. Saxophobe... though we all know it's the Viola Players who need to be taught some better manners and to quit playing their darned instruments. ;-)

Haha. Oddly enough, I understand the saxophone hate sometimes. Saxophones have been used in awful ways. They often sound super corny and are often played badly. The sound very much depends on the player and some people deliberately go for ugly sounds.

I sometimes play with symphonic orchestras and I really have to work hard to blend well with any of the other sections. In big bands, saxophones are often too quiet. In symphonic orchestras, saxophones are always too loud. It's rather comical that saxophones were originally concieved as orchestral Instruments ... and they never really established themselves. ;)

Most classicalcomposers really didn't use them very well, also. The saxophone parts in Rhapsody in Blue are rather strange. American in Paris is way better in that regard.

And then there is this super ugly "quack quack" classical saxophone sound. Uahhhh.

On the other hand you have all these jazz saxophone players who think playing more notes equals better music ...

So yes, saxophones have issues. But if used well, they can produce great colourful sounds. They can add a really airy quality.
