Schools working to combat chronic absenteeism among students

Certainly, the pandemic showed students learn better when they are in the classroom. However, some school districts have attendance issues.

The focus is on those students who fall into the chronic absenteeism category, which is 18 absences or more, both excused and unexcused.

keeping kids cooped up in the classroom 9 months out of the year is really silly if you set back and think about it.

The reason my kids miss school a lot is every time they go to school they get sick!!! I know a lot of pediatricians and teachers who absolutely hate school attendance policies!! We need to be able to keep our kids home when they are sick, and they don't necessarily need to go to the doctor, just rest at home until they are better! Which of course also ties into work attendance policies for parents. Our country just REALLY needs to do better all the way around!! The punishment, sending parents to prison is for sure part of that problem!!! Obviously it does NOT solve a thing!!! I don't have the answer as to what does solve the issue, but so far, what they are doing is NOT working!!!
