Sky News reports live from earthquake aftermath

A state of emergency has been declared in Myanmar following a powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake.

Tremors were felt up to 800 miles away in neighbouring Thailand, where the capital, Bangkok, has also declared a disaster.

Reuters reports that three people have been confirmed dead in Myanmar, while in Thailand,
emergency services say two people were killed when a building collapsed.

Also pray for Myanmar people everybody talks about Bangkok and Thailand but Myanmar was the epi center if the quake and probably lots more people dead or injured over there .

If the Sky News reporter knew the first thing about Earthquake warning systems, she might find out that they are based on detecting P-waves prior destructive S-waves that cause the buildings to collapse. The time difference from P to S wave arrivals is only measurable when the epicenter is nearby, so in the case of Bangkok over 1000km away there would be no time difference P to S as the waves would all arrive at the same time as the damage is happening.

Why is the Sky News reporter asking the PM why there were no warnings? Embarrassingly dumb questioning to a public official, how has she got a work permit there?. Does the reporter not know anything about earthquakes?

This reporter keeps on mentioning about there being no warning prior to the earthquake. Unless i am missing something, the lack of warning is a common attribute to earthquakes. If so, perhaps someone at Sky could educate her on the matter rather than being seen as the village

The 7.7-magnitude earthquake was in Mandalay, Myanmar, which is over 1, 000 km away from Bangkok 🇹🇭.
The building must be built by Chinese workers, with Made in China 🇨🇳 quality materials.
