I’m not an immigration lawyer; I’m a professional engineer. To me, the distinction between a citizen and a green card holder is irrelevant. What truly matters is that the individual entered the U.S. through legal channels and successfully navigated the immigration process.

I've been waiting for 2 1/2 years for my paid renewal of my green card. A judge told me a couple of months ago that I should become a US citizen and get rid of the green card altogether. I have been here 66 years.

Yes. You dont know how's important and what's different between having a green card and being a citizen untill something happens.
I had experience about that.
And this video is explained very clearly. ❤

I've bern green card hold since 1993, 32 years.
I was given amnesty via the 1986 Amnesty Act of Ronald Regan. If you were illegally in the USA for 5 years prior to 1986 and convicted of no crime you were given amnesty to apply for green card. Took 7 years from applying in 1986 to get green card in '93.

Hello I live on the Texas/ Mexico border. My wife has had her green card for over 30 years. In those years, she's had 1 speeding ticket. No criminal record. I believe this year we will apply for citizenship. Hopefully the process will be smooth. God bless
