Update: when you come back to your mac after it enters sleep mode you do need to PRESS the touch id button instead of just RESTING your finger on it, although it should just work either way, APPLE

If you go into Bluetooth on your Mac and have it search then turn on the keyboard it will connect then ask you to type in a sequence of numbers to encrypt the touch ID. You shouldn't have to actually plug it in to connect it. Great video, I just wish they made the small with black keys. I normally use a 65 or 75% board on my PC and the full size is just too big, not enough space for my mouse.
