James O'Brien condemned this caller who was set on picking a fight instead of scrutinising the government over the UK's coronavirus response.

The UK is on track to have the worst coronavirus death toll of any country in Europe, with the total number of lives lost passing 26,000, a figure which includes deaths in care homes and in the community for the first time.

"The statistics are genuinely staggering, so why are they not the biggest story in town?" James O'Brien said.

He emphasised he didn't want a scrap - but Christopher in Hillingdon had other ideas.

"I'm not a really big fan of you, James," said he said.

"I don't think that's the most important thing at the moment, Christopher," said James, trying to steer the caller back to the government's coronavirus response.

After he was accused of constantly criticising the Tory government James reminded the caller: "I talked up Rishi Sunak, I've praised Matt Hancock, I've said today don't get distracted by the question of whether or not the tests are done...

"Christopher tell me why you are not worried about us having potentially the highest death rate in the world? I don't want to talk about me."

Another gotcha - once the full figures are known UK numbers are likely to be proportional to our population size and density E.G. Copenhagen population 1.9 million with density 1200 PSKm London 9.3 million with density 5100 PSKm. Then factor in the demographics and wildly differing counting methods. Our numbers will not be any worse than other European countries. Still sad but unfortunately true.

Let's take a look at the facts then

80% gaurenteed minimum payout (for 3 months dependent on extension) for co-workers furloughed due to site shutdown or lack of work (bearing in mind the lack of places open will probably break even) and that includes Grant's for people self employed up to £2500 a month

Death in service payout for frontline workers that have died due to the current situation

Mortgage suspension for 3 months if you choose to

Interest free loans for businesses if they choose to take it...

The list goes on and theres probably more that I'm missing. Also a lot of the blame on PPE can be put onto the procurement managers of NHS, the government can allocate as much funding as required however if the management isn't there to obtain and distribute the PPE effectively it's useless! So if you want to point the finger anywhere James point it there first! We all know what labour would do, borrow their way out of the situation and throw us into a worse recession than what gordon brown did 🤦‍♂️
