Oh yeah, I had about a month of nausea and just feeling really weird in my body, but thank the gods I stuck with it because now I'm an actually functional human being

So many people fear monger about psych meds but Prozac worked for me and my life is so much brighter for it. My only regret is not getting help sooner

I just started my first antidepressant Wellbutrin this morning and in the timespan of 30 minutes I feel like I can run a marathon. But I don't feel hypomania, nor does my hyperactivity distress me anymore. I feel more goal-oriented and that my mind is quicker than usual, which is relatively sluggish.

I started Prozac 25 days ago. I have to say my panic attacks are less severe but I still have anxiety. More so in the mornings after awakening and then tapers off but still have ebbs and flows of anxiety throughout the day. But manageable. Also found out my iron levels are extremely low. Don’t know what came first low iron or anxiety. Symptoms are the same with low iron and anxiety. Some people say they wake up one day and their depression or anxiety is gone. I’m waiting on that day. I know the medication takes time to work.

I have bipolar disorder and have tried tons of meds over the years and lots of antidepressants bc my depressive episodes are so severe. Luckily, I've not had any issues with taking them and it causing manic episodes, but some of the side effects I notice most when starting new meds(besides headaches being number one) is what I call feeling sideways... It's kinda like feeling dizzy but not exactly. Maybe it's vertigo, idk but it's like I'm drunk or tilting to one side and I also frequently have very vivid dreams that are typically nightmares. That is prob my least fav bc sometimes it's so bad that I'll avoid sleeping and lack of sleep is a trigger for me so it's not a good cycle. There are some meds I've had to stop taking bc of it. There haven't been too many that I've tried where the side effects were too much, but there have been some.

Hm, not my experience. I’ve been on 35+ different med trials and find that debilitating side effects typically occur 3-4 months after regulating. These have always led to med discontinuation and incredibly intense withdrawal periods, even when tapering down.

Quickly enough to cause me akathisia, restleness, anxiety and aggravate the insomnia I already have which was caused at first (as teenager) by antidepressants

I'm one of the patients who can't tolerate emotional blunting as a side effect, so after 11 medication trials and a failed round of TMS, it's pretty exhausting. The meds that haven't caused blunting have either caused aggression or sexual dysfunction.

Medication should only be used as a tool to help you in the process of digging up the true root cause of your overactive amygdala or cortex, and sometimes both. Neurological pathways can be strengthened and weakened, unfortunately for people who have depression and anxiety have strengthened their pathways that lead them into the spiral of misery. Therapy can help you strengthen those pathways that lead to positively. Think of it as a yard full of grass that you dogs plays in, over time the path they travel on the most gets rid of the grass and a path of dirt is created. That path they have created in the grass is now easier for them to run through. The same thing happens in your brain with negative pathways, so therapy can start you on a different path and weaken your negative path you have made a dirt path of. The brain is survival of the busiest so the pathways used most often become more powerful than the pathways less traveled on. With that being said, medication is only beneficial as a tool and not as a solution.

It’s the opposite for me. I get like one good month of an antidepressant where the world makes sense again. Then it tapers off and I keep taking it because now I am in the habit. 6 months later, I get a 6 mo. Period. Yes. Tried everything. Doctors couldn’t understand why I was bleeding everyday. I was bedridden from it. After 3 months was finally put on birth control that didn’t work. Finally after 6 months I decided on my own to switch antidepressants as a last resort. Everything was fine after that. The doctors were even shocked. You know your body better than the doctors.

This is why I rather take supplements. Ashwagandha and magnesium is definitely helping. Less to no side effects.

I can't feel any good mood with my anti depressant, which my psychiatrist says it can help, I can even skip a dose without knowing, meaning I can't feel the need to take it sometimes which they say I should feel the need to take it daily but I don't, help, doc.😢i once love exercising but now i dont feel much euphoria in exercising anymore because of my state of mind cause of this weird bad feeling.i keep waking-up every night like atleast 2 to 4x a night

Week four: No side-effects. Not feeling much of anything. Maybe keeping me in a minimal flux from my baseline depression.
