So far I only build my PC on the carpet and yeah, nothing happened so far. The risk of it happening nowadays is so small that you dont really need to be as careful as some people act. It once was a bigger problem but now technology advanced :D

wasn’t there a video you guys did about using a vacuum to clean a pc can lead to a fried mobo from static?

yes its rare, but you dont want to be this one in a milion person to experience this, so just dont risk

If you hold the ssd while charging yourself up, you also charge the ssd to the same level as your body is, same with the gpu there won't be any static electricity between the body and ssd/gpu if those 2 competents are groundet it looks differently

Still be careful I built my pc and used one of those bands, and according to Best Buy geek squad my mother board received a shock.

You need a lot of static or get extremely x1000 extremely unlucky to kill something with it casually

*static resistant* unless your components are made or rubber, it’s not “nearly impossible. If you build up a charge and your not grounded, that electrostatic is gonna be jumping around like a dirt junkie, as soon as it can find a path of least resistance, like installing a component onto a grounded system, or stepping onto contacted floor while holding a component. Unless your systems components company somehow invented a material that is conductive when in contact with each other but not with the ground… that’d be some Harry Potter type shit.
Either two ways. 1. Stay grounded ✌️Or 2. The floor is lava

Unfortunately I personally damaged an HDD by static electricity....

devices are protected, but you can fry ANY electronics with an ESD

This is the most incorrect video I have seen on computing. Why do you think Intel and AMD have strict processes in place. A human can output 2 to 5K volts from a static charge so don't post rubbish and the damage can be at a microscopic level.

*Well, you specifically said that only "some" pc components have built-in anti-static parts, which means that some do not. If some do not, then there would still be some vulnerability according to your own statement.*

a lot of misinformation in this video, i would highly reccomend watching lltt + electroboom videos on the subject

Hey, so I have a Huion kamvas 22 plus (drawing display tablet) Its a monitor you can draw on. If anyone is experienced with huion/wacom or any other brands who make them please tell me if there is any worry when it goes black everytime I have a blanket near my table where it sits. It quickly works again after less than a second but should I be worried ?
It's connected via a thick USB-C to USB, HDMI and power supply into the wall.

What about latent damage? It might still work for a good amount of time, but be compromised in life

If you’re cool with risking your own PC parts on static electricity, that’s cool. But I’d much rather you take the precautions if you’re working on mine
