The Strange Fiskerton Phantom: Cryptid Spotlight

The Fiskerton Phantom is our final video for the Cryptid Spotlight season 2. Don't worry the series isn't over though. Today we look at a being that is said to be half cat and half bear that sometimes has glowing red eyes. It is a creature found in legends that seems to have come to life. Is it the mothman, a giant cat or something else entirely?

The assumption is that farmland, being open, would make it more difficult for the creature to hide. I have seen a full grown cow moose standing about 7 feet tall at the shoulder stand up from an irrigation ditch at the sound of my truck passing. The same for a young bull moose about 5 feet tall. I was close enough to tell what sex they were as they ran away. I have seen large bear tracks in plowed hay fields when no bear was seen. Farmers have little time for taking in the scenery as the work is long and hard constantly. There is always something that needs to be done but hasn't. Also farm land is sparsely populated and most of the population is asleep soon after dark. It's a bad assumption. A large predator would have to eat frequently so unless there are ongoing stock kills in the area, the idea that it is nomadic has merit. The dark always makes things appear larger than they are and any light shined in an animals eyes will cause them to glow red or green. Spotting eye-shine in the headlights has kept me from hitting deer on the road at night, and if you know what to look for can be seen at a considerable distance. If there were paw prints, then there had to be a real animal making them. The age of the girls makes their story more credible rather than less, becasue children that young often tell the truth even if it is unbelievable and make very poor liars because they don't know which details are important so they either contradict themselves or get far too detailed in their descriptions. That is how I see it.

Honestly? I can't even remotely imagine how one'd get there, but this sounds for all the world like a Russian or Siberian wolverine. The long-toed paws, the bear-like build, the pointed cat-like ears-- you do find unusually dark-furred ones, and their dark eyes do tend to reflect light back much as a ferret's do. Males have been known to reach as much as 70-odd pounds (they're larger than North American wolverines, ) Just a thought.

Lincolnshire is known for big cats … I know people who’ve seen them.

I’m old enough to remember “The Secret Saturday’s”

I lived for a while in Argyle Scotland near Loch Awe, one day i was npt far from my house with another person it was early evening light was begining to fade and as we looked over the Dalmally to Inverary road to the other side we saw something. The land sloped down from us to the road dropping further to a river and then climbed back up into forestry land. The forest was one that had been plnted and ploughed so you had apprx 2 foot wide deep ditches the earth from teh ditches piled up on either side. these ditches ran from the low ground up to the highground. What we saw was a plae coloured animal we guessed some sort of big cat. it was was walking crossing the ditches and was not moving like a sheep as we both worked with sheep we knew it was not one. Being late as we watched it for a while eventualy the light dropped to a level where we could no longer see it. There had been sightings and stories from people over the years before we saw this about big cats but both of us had thought of them more of being tall tales due to drinking. But when we saw it we were both sober and we watched it for a good 20 mins to half hour. Even now some 20 years later sightings still occur in and around an area of about 30 mile radius. Time has passes so where we saw it has now become dense forest

Also this cryptic does kinda sound like a bear dog which was like part bear, wolf and lion so I it does fit the description, the only issue is is that they have been dead for 16 million years and to my knowledge, no bear dog fossils have been found in England so who knows.

Glad to have you back Ben! I wish you and your family a very happy New Year! I am curious about the report the girls made in that the beast was eating a pheasant. When people are startled they tend to be poor judges of size and distance. To notice the pheasant leads me to think the creature wasn’t as big as they thought. Could it have been a large feral cat? I’m from Wisconsin and the feral cats we have here tend to get much larger than their domestic counterparts in order to survive the cold. Also the lack of paw print pictures (or casts) in an age of smartphones with cameras is odd. This could also explain several of the other sightings. Just a thought. Later!
