Why I write young adult fiction

I made this video to talk about young adult fiction, why I write it, and why I think it's important.

I have always written as a pastime and this might come as some surprise, but I’ve never set foot in a university or had any formal training such as a writers’ course, nonetheless I’m pretty confident everything’s up to scratch. In a converse kind of way, because you never talk down to people, this buoys me up!

this video had one small element that basically gave me a huge overarching theme in my future writing. and I didnt even know it was a thing until you said it, cuz popular YA right now ( I dont read much YA but i will) doesnt have as many pragmatic elements as opposed to fantasy elements.

I've taken multiple online courses on Kindle publishing and they all say that only non-fiction can be consistently profitable, not fiction. Do you dispute this statement, and if so, how do you go about finding profitable keywords and niches for fiction books that consistently sell? It seems like most buyers who read fiction use Kindle Unlimited, and KU page reads is now pitifully low (like $0.005 per page read.) Writing fiction seems more like playing the lottery unless you're already an established author or have an email list already built up.

in regards to YA fiction, does that audience prefer first person or third person perspectives? I've read mixed opinions on it and can't seem to decide for myself
