Finding meaning in Subaru's suffering. This is my own interpretation of course, you’re free to have your own.

I can’t believe I messed up Subaru’s name.

Kyle:"The final villain is everything Subaru hates about himself..."
Me: "Ahh yes Betelgeuse"
Kyle:"Beetlejuice."

I love how every time he dies, his expressions are showcasing his fear, or when he cries for real, they don’t make him out to be a pretty boy. Really humanizes him in my opinion. We’re reminded he’s just a really normal dude with an unnatural determination.

You can change everytime he says "Subaru" to "You" and it becomes a motivational video.

There are definitely flaws of Return By Death. Subaru is not immune to all physical confrontations; he does not decide the reset points.

Subaru isn’t lonely he always has the Witch watching over him.

Edit: I already know about the whole “Satella and Envy” thing but the fact of the matter

It isn’t cut. Just because the Anime is based off of the LN does not mean it fully follows it the same way and thus what appears “cut” is just moved to a different point.

Each Anime episode has to reach a certain point in the story, if it doesn’t have room to fit something then it can be cut but something as important as Satella and Envy is too important to be cut and thus it will eventually come, this plot point literally explains so much about her character.

When Subaru kept dying and losing his relationships and progress for example he gets really close to Emilia or Rem and then he dies and loses EVERYTHING... *_and that made me cry._*

This is one great insight on the topics ReZero explores.
There's an old Russian film "We'll live till Monday", that shows a life of a Soviet school teacher. The children are tasked to write a composition on "What is Happiness". While everyone in the class write pages describing their understanding of Happiness, one boy puts it simple "Happiness is when you are understood."
Subaru craves being understood. That is why taking Rem away was important for the story - to force Subaru to confide in others, not just a single special person. In order to learn to fly one needs to learn to walk first.

I just want to say that season 1 is only a prologue. Season 2 will be a masterpiece (if they dont fuck it up)

Something you didn't mention is that everytime Subaru returns by death, the Witch's scent grows stronger and it makes everything harder for him.
For instance he was chased and killed by ram once

Subaru is the greatest protagonist there is because he has 3 important things.

1. Traits and issues that relate to almost anyone, but especially seasoned anime watchers and weeaboos.
Loneliness, depression, mental stress, almost anyone whos has gone through life has dealt with something of the sort, and the fact Subaru has these, especially in Isekai where protagonists are blank, projectile slates, is incredibly enrapturing.

2.Believability. Anyone can see Subaru and think "Yeah, he's a person! I feel like I've met someone like this or have been this person!" Subaru isn't just a character, he feels like a true person. That makes you like him and resonates with him SO much more.

3. A similar goal to everyone. He wants to be a better person. No one who reads this comment can go and say they don't want to be a better person, or at the very least, have never wanted to be a better person. So seeing Subaru have a goal EVERYONE has had or does have is incredibly impactful. Other Isekai protags have goals like "save the kingdom" or "get the girl(s)." but Subaru's is one as simple as "Stop being a PoS." That simple goal is so believable and reasonable that anyone can connect to it, and love Subaru as he goes towards that goal.

When I first began watching Re:Zero i thought it was going to just be a normal isekai but boy was I wrong

so many people (not here) hate subaru because they expect him to be some kind of OP ass superhero while not understanding that this is a story of a normal kid. a story that makes you, the reader, the main protagonist.

"If you forgot death then you forgot what it means to be alive" This quote from Casshern explains the situation well, Casshern as well as Subaru quickly realized that if you are the only one who cannot die then you are the ghost. Subaru's tragedy is not that he is weak, but that no matter what he does, in the end everything will be irrelevant because he will inevitably be the only one who remembers the past.

Spoilers for most recent episode at time of posting

Seeing Subaru's total mental breakdown when he meets Echidna the second time and is finally able to tell someone, anyone, about Return By Death, instantly made me think of this video again. Good stuff

Probably Subaru's best line in Season 1:
"You call yourself a replacement, but no one could replace you"

i just imagine someone who can read the memories trying to read subaru and going insane in a second.
There is so much dark stuff in Rezero, loneliness, mental scars, hopeless, despair, fear, anxiety, and the terrible feeling that even death cant free you of your suffering

Agreed, the fact that Subaru is the only one who remembers what happens after each death but he can't even communicate what he's going through to the ones who support him. The way Re: Zero handles is phenomenal because we get a full close up on the mental and physical toll dealing with his loneliness. And when you're alone you have to "fight" all your heavy burdens by yourself. That's not easy, it can take a great deal of mental fortitude, and you may fail. However, if you can push past all that struggle what you'll find is growth. As an individual, that to me is very important. Great video.
