Stephen Schwartz proposed to make "Popular" into a hip hop song for the movie, but Ariana Grande vehemently said no, saying she wanted to play Galinda as it was in the stage musical, not as Ariana Grande acting and playing as Galinda.

As an OG Wicked fan, I have to confess I was really nervous about everything to do with this movie. The casting, the splitting it in two... But I will admit I was utterly wrong. What an absolute triumph. The first movie musical adaptation to truly bring the Musical in all its essence and meaning to the big screen. Not a moment felt like filler and the aesthetics were perfect. Ariana is a literal Glinda worshipper, and she brought everything to the role in every hair flip, and smashed it which makes me feel bad because of how much I doubted her. I cannot wait for part 2, I need to hear For Good.
