Movies are quieter and less dramatic as the audience can clearly hear and see notes and expressions. In shows, you have to have bigger expressions and sounds to project to the audience. The differences are necessary. Both did amazing.

I like both BUT

I like how in the Broadway version Galinda is brash, overbearing, and overtly rude. She has a commanding presence and there's no doubt she's in control of the energy in social situations. She's the loudest sorority sister.

Movie Galinda seems much more sweet. It's more true to how mean popular girls often LOOK very innocent while being damn cruel. Movie Galinda is more of an airhead. It's debatable whether 100% of her malice is ACTUALLY intentional. On the receiving end, the plausible deniability and social chess is crazy making.

I think both portrayals make sense for the medium. You need to be BIG and LOUD on Broadway, so the brash Debutante-like Galinda works on the stage. You can see it from the back of the room. Movie Galinda can communicate the same character with tiny facial expressions, a soft airy voice, and an "innocent" smile.

It's really good. As someone obsessed with Wicked since its hayday when I was 13, it's just really good.

Kristen’s performance is PERFECT for what was coming out at the time. The bold and loud sorority aesthetic was the epitome of “cool girl, up and coming”. This was the decade of legally blonde, it’s such a great portrayal.

Ari’s is also great because in 2024 we have ultimate clean/soft girl aesthetic that the cool crowd leans toward. More muted/frilly.

They’re both perfect interpretations for their times and what it means to be popular even if through a theater lense.

Both are absolutely incredible, but I grew up listening to the wicked on Broadway soundtrack and even after hearing Ari and her talent I still and always will prefer Kristen

I actually prefer the original version bc I think it gets her actual personality through better. Smooth pretty vocals are Disney princess vocals. Glinda is a bright pink, slightly nosy and overbearing, maybe sometimes well-meaning but very shallow girl at the beginning of the play.

Although I do believe they all have a great singing voice, just I think the Broadway musical was just better song-wise wise and it fits the characters watching the movie versions is just seems to be a sing-along parody of the Broadway

The 2 voices in the movie are just so beautiful!!! ❤ both are amazing. I didn't see th Broadway but they have great voices! In my opinion I like the way Cynthia showed confusion.
