YVONNE ELLIMAN Hello Stranger EXTENDED VIDEOMIX

My thanks to suzannesstud for posting an extended version of Yvonne Elliman's 1977 hit 'Hello Stranger'. I've used it and a performance clip to edit and create this post. It is the 2nd of 3 Yvonne Elliman hits I've done this for. But I've had the most difficulty editing these clips than almost any others! The difference in pitch, speed between mp3's and youtube clips makes it really hard to achieve synch. Yvonne Elliman may have been a big star for a short period of time, but the clips of her are appearances on television programs rather than concept/promotional videos; hence the disparities; especially if they were performed live rather than lip synched to the original single. In the 6 years I've been posting songs on youtube; my pictorial post for the 7" version of Hello Stranger has been one of if not my most watched on the channel. It was neither a huge hit nor a particularly noteworthy clip - it was one of my first and fairly rough, but it has had over 1.2 million hits; and I am bowled over by the comments that have been made; almost unanimously enamored with Yvonne's version; although there have been a load of comments comparing Yvonne's to the original Barbara Lewis one. There are songs that folks must either seek out or are somehow drawn to like this one even though it is not her signature hit; that would surely be 1978's 'If i can't have you'?

Yvonne was and is still considered the best female vocalist to come out from Hawaii. I love to listen to this song.

Although, the original song was written and sung by Barbara Lewis in 1962, Yvonne Elliman brought it back exactly the same without change of tones 15 years later, causing a great success to her. Very romantic, it brings me a lot of 1977"s memories.
