We also used MUS Primer and it was a hit. Once we moved over to Alpha my daughter said absolutely not 😂 so we switched to MWC and it's been going great. I love the games and book suggestions throughout. We are about 4 weeks away from finishing and she's starting to push back saying she no longer enjoys it also. For handwriting I purchased handwriting without tears, like the whole set, and then stumbled on d'nealian handwriting that makes transitioning to cursive easier. And it looks more like our actual handwriting. A feature I love is you can print out your own worksheets from an online platform, along with games and other things.

I look forward to how you will use MWC. I loved it, my kid not as much. It’s teacher intensive, I loved that it teaches us the why behind the math. It’s unfortunate that it didn’t work for us. I also have Additional Facts that Stick and was planning on doing it during the summer.

Just like you I bought a lot of curriculum I wasn’t intending. For math I went with Maria Miller, Math Mammoth- my child goes to kindergarten and I supplement her education at home. If I were to homeschool I would have done Math You See.

The one curriculum that I wasn’t expecting to love is Primary Phonics from Barbara Makar- the readers and especially the student workbooks. The workbooks themselves are amazing as stand alone. Highly recommend. It has students write sentences using a word bank. I was surprised my child could do most of the work without my help.

For your active thespian child I would look into ABC SEE HEAR DO Book Series. They are very simple books that use movement and actions to teach phonetic sounds and blends. My 5 year old has Loved these books.

Check out the Super simple Songs podcast imagination time! It might be similar to that CD you couldn’t get to work. My daughter loves it during car rides.
