Pray Like Jesus Prayed This Holy Week

During Holy Week, as we contemplate the last hours of Jesus’ life, we get an intimate look at how Jesus prays to his Father.

Starting with our Lord’s prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane, we hear Jesus talking to God the Father about the upcoming moments of his life. He continues to pray through his Passion all the way until his last breath—a model that we as sons and daughters of God can follow as well. But what does Jesus show us about what it means to truly pray “Abba, Father”?

Fr. Mike, I’ve been bedridden the past 2 weeks because of an unexpected surgery...and I’ve got to say, all this time staring at the ceiling and listening more intently to your videos has really enriched my faith. This video immensely blessed me as I always speak the words, “Abba, Abba” after the Fraction rite in the Mass. It has always consoled me to imagine myself again as a little girl with messy ponytails running to the altar, to God the Father — wobble, crawl, or limp if I have to. It is amazing to experience how God can take a surgery to remind me of what it means to be a dependent child of God, and how in the Mass we are called to celebrate with the uttermost joy. Thank you Fr. Mike for blessing me, for your ministry, and for your incredible love for the Lord!

We used to watch his videos all the time in high school and I just am starting to watch it independently ever since churches would close cause of corona. I didn't realize how he really makes you think about the faith in a whole different way. I've gone to church all my life with different priests and out of all of them. I think I learn more about the faith through Father Mike. I honestly wish I can see his mass not virtually. Tbh if everyone got the time to know Father Mike, everyone would want to learn more about the Lord

That one verse is the most excruciatingly painful passage to read.
Our saviour expressing a very human response to a terrible event that, in that moment, he dreads to go to. How real, how we understand that distress he feels.
Although the payment by blood was essential for our salvation, it's still a very painful event to meditate on.
We cannot take away his pain - yet he takes away all of our pain, misery & suffering.
Hosanna in the Highest.
Worthy is the Lamb.

Sometimes it is difficult to imagine what’s a Father’s love when you grew up without a father. 😌

Being in the choir since 4th grade makes me think Abba as “Abba, father 🎶 you are the potter, we are the clay”. I really like the way you explain it as dad. After all we have our Mother Mary, now we have Dad our one true God. 💗
