So, the DOJ wants to break up Google, Amazon is throwing billions at AI, and Microsoft is basically turning Windows into a billboard. Meanwhile, I’m just here wondering why my smart fridge keeps asking me to upgrade to Premium for better cooling.

European here, that set up his android phone in the last week: I had these 2 setup screens, and this is absolutely no problem for normal people.

I work on nuclear fusion. The whole fusion budget in the US is less than 1 billion/year. We use spare parts from the 80s in our lab. And people point finger at us asking why fusion is always 20 years away 😵‍💫 If we get fucking chat bot kind of budget we can build you a reactor in 5 years.

Tech companies complaining that they're too incompetent to compete on fair grounds after having an illegal monopoly in category for over a decade :(

Google gets tackled for a monopoly, but corporations buying homes in a housing crisis is fine.

America just prove they absolutely can tackle housing monopolies, they just don't want to.

As someone living in a European country, the law already forces Google to give people the choice of search engine when opening Chrome up for the first time. It seems the U.S. is always late to making good decisions.

"Everyone around the world would be harmed!" That sounds like Admission to being a Monopoly.

When does the class action lawsuit start against MS forcing them to support windows 10 for life, since it was advertised at the last OS we would ever have to get.

Google's response to the DOJ is so hilarious. It shows they have absolutely no argument here

I hope they DOJ doubles down and makes it so we have "options page" where you choose what is installed when you do first time installation

I really hope at some point some companies start selling "anti-AI devices" such as laptops, computers etc that have all hardware for AI stripped out and preferably even hardware-based firewalls that prevent any AI from contacting its home server. I'm seriously sick and tired of "AI Everything" already!
I wish regulators had acted faster and prevented AI being built into software and hardware by default and ONLY allowed it as an add-on, or alternate hardware choice (so specific types of CPU like the Intel unlocked "K" skew).

I got one of those full screen windows 11 ads right in the middle of playing a game and I don’t even have a TPM chip.

"we'd have to make people click more"
also google: if you want to get to your YT homescreen you're going to have to minimize, then rotate, then swipe, then close the ad cuz you swiped in the wrong place, then finally just force close and re-open and wish phone YT had less trash to scroll through.

The moment TVs are selling at loss to get money by ads, is the moment TVs are going to force you to enter your wifi before using.

2:05 Doesn't matter. I went to Linux Mint earlier this year for home use. Thank you for your concern, Microsoft, but I'll be just fine. 😎 aka bite me LOL. It's been a fun 32 years (since Windows 3.1), but I've moved on...
