In this video we read from "True History of Some of the Pioneers of Colorado," by Luella Shaw, published all the way back in 1914. This tells of the Hungate massacre which led to the Battle of Sand Creek in November of 1864 between US soldiers and Cheyenne and Araphahoe Indians. It also tells of an outlaw band led by Jim Reynolds.

Sitting into this Time-Travel seat for a 20 minute visit with some old ghosts. Have usually always liked their kind . . .

I live in the area where he operated. His gold is buried up here behind the high-school. I've wanted to go out there but it mostly private land unless I start at one of the points on national forest. It's about 12 miles from the closest starting point. This is a great video. Probably the most detailed. I've always wanted to know about him and his crew. I'm from GA originally. I have 6 of my 3rd great grandpa's fought for the confederacy. And 1 that fought for the union.

Sweetie, they will NEVER put what you talk about in a history class. Not EVER!😂 God bless you, I love your stories about our ancestors. But those mysterious “they” people don’t want us to have pride in our heritage.

Wonder what happened to the gold they stole?

It is clamed that horse thieves were NOT hung by law in the old west and that you could not use deadly force to stop horse or cattle stealing.
An on line search gives results that seem to back this what do the *written history* say on this subject?

Sand Creek wasn’t a battle it was a massacre of peaceful Indians flying the US flag over the village. The Government told them that flying the flag would keep them safe. Soldiers killed everyone that they could, women children were not spared.

The settling of the Hungate family and other colonizers precipitated the problems with the natives.
