Should You Buy A Home With Solar Panels: what you should ask before you buy?

Solar panels on your home can save you thousands of dollars but if you're buying a home that already has them installed there are a few things that you absolutely need to know before you decide whether or not you should purchase the home.

Are the solar panels on the home you're considering purchasing efficient and in good condition? If they are outdated or not functioning properly, you may end up paying more to repair or replace them.

Solar panels require regular maintenance to ensure they are functioning properly. You will want to consider whether you are comfortable with the additional maintenance costs associated with solar panels. Is there a warranty in place and what are the terms--make sure you read through the contract & warranty. I recommend calling the installation company to ensure that they're still in business and that the warranty is transferable.

Solar panels can help you save on your energy bills, but it's important to understand how much you can expect to save. This can depend on the size of the solar panel system, the amount of sunlight the panels receive, and your energy usage habits.

Finally—are the panels leased or owned outright.

Overall, it's important to do your research and consider all of these factors before deciding whether or not to purchase a home with solar panels.
