Roger's voice was perfect then and still is decades later.

I really like early Who stuff… it’s fascinating to see how they evolved musically over the years! ❤

Am I the only one to notice how excellent this is?? It took me some time to get their "jam" but I did. Awesome footage 👏

The entire essence of the mighty WHO contained in here, as a prototype, they had an incredible motorism unmatched by ANY other band, not even THE ANIMALS, and Led Zeppelin doesn't come even close. No OASIS, U2, JAM, RADIOHEAD, BLUR, and whatever all that crap may be called, comes near this. And the Beatles and Stones need to work very hard to keep up with this, Ladies and Gentlemen...

Interesting here, to see a set of hat's in Moonie's drum kit they were there, off & on, over the years, ' Who Are You' they are prominent

Something about their style and approach made it super-obvious that the bass and the drumkit are equally important and cool as guitar and vocals are.

The french speech :
"There are almost 20 000 groups like this in England. Each district of large cities has its own. The electric guitar replaced patronage, and the solidarity of friends replaced religious feeling.
But this new rite has its danger. When you're 18, to absorb all that noise standing up, you have to fight against sleep, so one day we started by taking stimulants. Anphetamine pills, like fighters pilots took during the war. And then we ended up getting completely drugged."

Guess the cameraman really didn’t like John Entwistle.

Interesting rig Pete was using. A Fender brain (I guess a Bandmaster) in rulage over the Marshall 4x12s. The best of American toneage meets the best of Brit toneage. Now I want it, lol.

The best bass guitarist in Rock neatly cut out of the story. As usual.

This is Roger re-inventing himself as a blue-eyed Soul singer. Maybe this was Pete Townshend re-writing the Motown songbook. Maybe Cliff could have re-invented himself as a blue-eyed Soul singer.

@janeywright2519: Sounds like an improvised version of “Shout” (Isley Bros).

I wish I had seen HEATWAVE live ever by them. Why did they never play it?

jackcrane

Jeez that version of _'Heatwave'_ was worse than The Jam's. 😆
