You can just place observers instead of the redstone line it will do that automatically

Try placing waterlogged Sculk Sensor next to one another in a square grid.
Surround them with wool
Next place Redstone Lamps on top of all the Sculk Sensors.
Wherever you walk on the lamps, it creates a corresponding light pattern.
