His endorsement value? It seems better in LA, because of Yama and Sho.

Jim Bowden doesn't know squat. Or anyone who thinks Roku is going to the padres. If he truly wants to win, he'll sign with the dodgers

Endorsements come from exposure. The Dodgers get more air time, more print time, more water cooler time in Japan than any other team. A non-Dodger player can only dream of endorsements the Dodgers can bring them. The story is just click bait to attract readers and help their advertising. Not a chance.

The padres aren’t going to give him the notary he would get with the Dodgers.

This is based on Senga making more money than Yamamoto in endorsements this year. But senga plays in New York not San Diego and he also plays in a different time slot then Ohtani. The Padres play in the same timeslot as Ohtani which means almost nobody in Japan is going to watch Roki if he’s playing for the Padres. So I don’t know how that would get him more endorsement money considering Japanese players get 90% of their endorsements from Japan

Hope Bowden is right + that Sasaki’s will decide based upon off-field endorsement money.

Sponsors - Japanese or otherwise - would want him in Dodgers blue. High visibility + massive media market + legions of fans in Japan.

If Sasaki wants to hide - he’ll wear the Brown Diego uniform.

Roki likely also comes with the first round pick too. Because he will surely win rookie of the year

Once you mentioned Jim Bowden I knew this story was 💩

I said just yesterday that some reporter was going to claim that every team has a shot. That way the fanbase from every team will follow them and click on their Roki content. And they can get paid good money over the next couple months. Bowden is exactly the type of guy to pull this BS. I trust someone like Nightingale who is going against his own best financial interest by saying it’s a done deal with the Dodgers.

San Diego offering more endorsements than being in LA 😂 Bowden is a clown. just look at the difference in endorsements for Ohtani moving from Anaheim to LA.

With Musgrove out I felt they were a contender for him. We shall see

I just subscribe... but I think your statement and facts are a little off..

Padres ain't his team if he joins... They still got Yu Darvish.

But I'm with you on him, hoping he joins the dodgers... but please elaborate the facts you're hearing a little more bro..

Either way, thanks for the news..

I don't know how endorsements work. Why would his going to the Dodgers limit his endorsement? If Nike endorses him, how does that go to Shohei when Sho is endorsed by New Balance?

Jim Bowden is talking out of his *ss. In what world would Sasaki get more endorsements if he signed with a small-market team like the Padres? With the Dodgers being Japan's team, it is obvious that Sasaki's marketing potential is much higher/stronger with the Dodgers. I think Sasaki's marketing agent Dentsu (who gave him $2 million upfront when he turned pro) would advise him accordingly. Moreover, all the Japanese companies that advertise with or sponsor the Dodgers use Dentsu as their advertising/marketing agency for Japan and worldwide. This would mean the Dodgers would have a very close working relationship with Dentsu.

If Sasaki signs with the Padres it's ok.... the Dodgers will have a worthy contender to fight the division and the league even throughout the season... it would be a win for baseball...
That said, I hope he picks the Dodgers.
