Unprecedented MID PATCH EMERGENCY NERF! Yelan & Treasure Hunt changes | feat. @windflowerlia | GITCG

Welcome to the Invokation Akademy Review Session, where I go over all the changes to GITCG from the latest update, and give you my first impressions to get you better prepared for the new metagame.

Well in a surprising twist after one week of Version 4.6, we have our first ever mid-patch balance change, with Underwater Treasure Hunt increased from 1 to 2 aligned cost, and Yelan's burst being reduced from 2 to do only 1 DMG for each Exquisite Throw, and an increase on the initial hit from 1 to 3 DMG to (not quite) compensate for that loss.

Treasure Hunt decks were slowly being figured out, and it seems the devs didn't want a repeat of the Jeht patch, and went ahead and adjusted it right away. The Yelan change too was a long time coming - and it is likely the Yayoi nerf didn't do it's intended job of shutting down Magic/Gilded decks - Yelan OTK being the most dominant - and so they decided to adjust her similar to XQ.

In this video, we'll go over the balance changes and their implications for both the Prince Cup, and the upcoming metagame.

Quick amendment to some stuff in the video!

Treasure hunt is +6 healing, not +5 - accidentally carried forward a dice error.
Yelan's combo is SKILL / NA / NA, (not NA skill NA). Also I forgot to mention the second NA should be on the next round.

Thanks to MrPillow in GITCG server pointing these errors out! I guess I made this too fast haha.

The breaking news bit was hilarious, also I think instead of doing sudden no announcement changes they should adopt a mid patch balance change model to fix things that are particularly bad without it being a whole patch until it’s fixed but not so sudden that it throws tournament things out of wack not to mention it gives them the second half of the patch to see if the changes did anything meaningful *cougn cough* gilded *cough cough*

I'm honestly very glad that we won't have to wait for 2 months to have these cards nerfed, they were obviously op and I really didn't want another jeht with yelan otk

They should really playtest more tho, these flagrant issues should not make it to the live version

This should be a new thing the broadcast bit was so funny, although I doubt any changes like this will shock the community as much it'd be a fun thing to do otherwise

I was actually thinking the same thing. Burst aside, Yelan is still pretty nice since she's able to draw cards on demand. They didnt touch her talent card either, so extra dice if you run that.

im surprised they nerfed these but didn't add an upper limit to crab, I imagine in the future they will cap it around 100. I imagine they implemented the hotfix because of too much early sinergy between the two cards but i honestly have only really seen crab decs this meta

It's funny how very much broken magic and hypermagic being nerfed via regular updates (and both taking more that one patch to fix) all the while these 2 sudden fixes are out of nowhere, one for a new card no less, with little to no use data.
My only guess is that these changes are meant to be in the version but somehow were missed.

I don't think Elan's burst is a huge problem. And now it looks useless.
I thought they nerf crab, it much more powerful.
