Thanks Jim for the easy to follow video. The lawnmower works great now. Good special effects in the background with the neighbor's lawnmower running :) Always learn something watching your You Tube productions

Great work. The lawnmower is as good as new. Glad you know what you are doing.

Hi Jim, Always appreciate the time people take to post this information but constructive comments. 1) Remove the muffler (2 bolts) and split the manifold from the cylinder instead of wrestling with the tight fit of the carburetor mounting bolts. 2nd benefit of this method is you don't have to bend the throttle linkage - it comes off easily, 2) I was hoping by your title that you showed how to remove the primer. I rebuilt the carb with a kit (float seal, float needle, bowl washer, etc) but didn't touch the primer and it is not pumping fluid. Take care, thanks for the effort - off to find a primer video

Your are very thorough. If you want to remove the carb, it is a lot quicker to get the carb off the engine.
1. exhaust is 2 bolts, and intake manifold is 2 bolts. 2. TAKE PHOTOS OF YOUR LINKAGE LOCATIONS.

Most of the time the jet that hold the bowl on is clogged. All you have to do is pinch off the gas line and remove the jet. If there is fuel in the bowl then you have a partial blockage.

I do like how thorough you describe everything. I NEVER KNEW HOW EASY IT IS TO TAKE THE TANK OFF.

Every other video shows people turning mower on the side to drain the gas. You should get the Presidential Medal of Freedom or a Nobel Prize for sharing that. There maybe even be Knighthood or a Sainthood in it for you.

Wow Jim you put a lot of effort into these videos. Thanks! One thing I notice when I use carb cleaner ....if it gets onto the neoprene seat....it immediately swells the seat and correct float level is impossible to attain once that has happened. Replacement of the seat is then required. In your video it looked like the float level was off quite a bit. The float should be pretty much level with the carb body when the assembly is turned upside down.

Removing the muffler to gain access to the one hidden bolt is SOO much easier than removing the tank.

BBB hmm. Do you think this will work, I have a techumseh lawnmower that takes about 12-15 primes to start.. will try. Thank you.

Thanks for the video, Jim. My mower which is about 25 years old has been standing for about three years. It wouldn't start. I followed your procedure and cleaned all the hardened residue from the evaporated petrol in the carb. It fired up first time, ran for about thirty seconds, coughed and backfired. Now it just backfires. It seems like no compression. Any ideas?

Good video. Isn't it fun working on small engines?
My mower was losing power, then it would stall. The main jet that holds the float bowl was clogged. Cleaned it out then mowed the lawn to celebrate.

What IS the red tube sticking out of the intake throat for though? My Tecumseh is missing that but still starts and runs good, just takes a few more primes and pulls than it probably should.

I have a toro recycler, 6.5hp GTS. I believe it is a techumsa engine, but no label anywhere to confirm. But I cannot get it to start no matter how many pulls I try. I have replaced the entire carburetor assembly (which includes the fuel jet bolt and new bowl), new spark plug, new air filter, and using fresh gas. I have used a spark plug tester to make sure I have spark, and I do have spark. I have ordered a new ignition coil, but not sure if that’s gonna be the fix since I am getting spark. Any thoughts on what I can do next?

Hi, I just replaced primer bulb cuz old wasn't prime and didn't had the white plunger and spring, do I need it or some models don't have ?
If yes, do you have part no ?

I took off the primer and sprayed off the holes underneath using the break cleaner, but it still doesn’t prime. I sprayed a healthy amount too. I don’t get how it won’t work even when all of that was done. I even replaced the primer bulb.

I found the no compression problem. The emulsion tube in the carb has come off and lodged under the exhaust valve. The carb you show in the video is the same mine, but mine has no identification on it. I bought it in Thailand about twentyfive years ago. Can you tell me what your one is incase I need parts? Now I'm being a cheeky bugger. Can you show the set up of the emulsion tube? I've found a brass tube and a small separate plastic tube which I assume fits on the brass tube and then somehow fits into the carb? Thanks for your help on this.
