I’m 24 and I’ve been coming back and forth to this channel since I was in middle school. Started as a fan of your nerf content and found myself now all these years later following you through your journey not just as a filmmaker but your journey through growing up and sharing with us what that’s been like for you. Thanks for all the content you’ve created for us all these years.

22 right now and have watched your channel since about 2011. After high school I went off to college for film classes and ended up dropping out after the first year. The timing of these videos is crazy because I would’ve been graduating right now if I had pursued my degree.

I’m actually graduating from film school with a writing for film/tv degree in 2 weeks so honestly this video was pretty helpful since most of my teachers haven’t gone over what I should do after I’ve gotten the paper lol. So thanks!

I know so many people are saying this, but it’s true for me too—I used to watch all the CaCox97 Nerf videos as a kid, and this advice is coming to me at a perfect time in my life.

I’m a writer/illustrator, but still in the field of film for sure. I did take scriptwriting classes in my multimedia graduate degree, so my foot stepped into the film school area of my academic Venn diagram for sure.

Anyway, all this is just to say, “thank you.” Thank you for the solid advice and support. Words of encouragement are much needed for artists. It’s pretty cool that we ended up sticking to similar paths after all this time. It felt like catching up with an old friend.

I'm 26 and have followed your channel since the Nerf Gun days back in 2006. You were a HUGE inspiration for me among others for pursuing a career in film. I graduated college back in 2020 and have been working at the New York Film Assistant as a TA since 2021.

It has been a LOT of effort trying to get jobs though, I have yet to actually properly get a job on a film set. This is a GREAT video to encourage me to be more proactive in being social. Your last tip of "not getting discouraged" hits VERY close to me. I've felt that way when many of my co-workers have been on film sets and are a few years younger than me. Thank you for encouraging me once again, and I'm hopeful that one day I'll be able to make my mark on this world. 😁👍🏻

Definitely got some good answers! Most the points you talked about are things ive been struggling with, especially with being discouraged and feeling like im in way over my head, but hopefully with this, i can figure out the next step correctly. Thank you so much!

I'm not specifically going for a Director career, though I am interested in what all goes into it for sure, I actually was inspired to dive into becoming an actor! It's never easy but those who truly push through will see progress. CONNECTIONS ARE KEY!

Definitely appreciate this type of content! I’m going into my senior year perusing a degree in sound/ sound design and I feel this definitely still applied! Will be keeping these tips in mind the closer I get to graduation.

Thanks for sharing this Chris. Was also wondering how your day to day life has been ever since you graduated and also during film school. I know you must’ve been busy considering you couldn’t upload as much, but whatever you did upload turned out to be amazing film pieces.

I'm 24, I grew up watching your Nerf and gaming videos with me and my neighborhood friends. I was obsessed with Nerf for a long time but grew out of it until everyone started ambushing each other in University with them and I went back home to get my arsenal 🤣. After taking 2 years out because of the pandemic, I'm now graduating with a master's in Engineering in September as my passion for engineering started with modding Nerf guns. It's funny to think how a toy took us both in two completely different and amazing directions. I hope you do well in the film industry, best of luck. 👍

Thanks for making this video Chris. I believe that most of these rules can apply to the real world in whatever people pursue. Watching your videos from when I was young I thought I’d pursue film school but things changed after I graduated high school and now I’m pursuing a bachelor’s in Psychology, and honestly I’m very happy even if it’s stressful at times lol. The real world is tricky and a key to solving it is the relationships made in school

Great advice. Good to hear. All artists need that reminder. 😊

Bro I remember watching your Nerf content when I was a kid. Not gonna lie, I am not in film school but I am a Communications student. I honestly don't really know what to do after my internship not gonna lie.

Great video! Just came across your channel today and just wanted to drop a positive comment. You seem like a class act - I wish great things on you and your career!

In addition to what you said: Freelancing is great when it's consistent. Otherwise, it's a fancy word we use for being unemployed. So, be pleasant to work with and keep as many irons in the fire as possible to string it all together into full-time work... even if it all looks a little different. No shame in running a videography or photography hustle in between your PA gigs while you try to get your foot into a unionized department! (And pay your self-employment taxes...! 😂)

Do you ever regret becoming a film major? Or do you feel like it was absolutely the right choice for you?
