8:51 - 9:15 was absolutely one of the finest executions of that moment I've ever heard. Brahms 3, to my ears, is the most consistently fascinating and rewarding of the four. Personally think this band has played it a time or two, don't you?

Gut phrasierte und wunderschöne Aufführung dieses romantischen und perfekt komponierten Sinfonie mit seidigen Tönen aller Streicher, brillanten Tönen aller Blechbläser und vor allem milden Tönen aller Holzbläser. Der dritte Satz klingt besonders schön und echt melodisch. Der erfahrene und unvergleichliche Dirigent leitet das ausgezeichnete Orchester im angemessenen Tempo und mit künstlerisch kontrollierter Dynamik. Wahrlich hörenswert!

Il a été le fondateur de l'orchestre philharmonique de la NDR et de longues années le directeur musical de votre très bel orchestre (jusqu'en 1971) .Son souvenir reste très présent en France : la firme Tarah, notamment, a remis à l'honneur des enregistrements de référence de ce merveilleux chef d'orchestre .Ses concerts à Covent Garden sont restés célèbres. Alors merci de nous ouvrir vos archives.

Perhaps Wand's NDR Hamburg was the ultimate Brahms orchestra. It certainly was for Furtwängler in the ultimate recording of Brahms 1st symphony.
