Damning new details on the timeline leading up to the FBI search of Trump’s Mar-A-Lago property. The New York Times reports Trump was subpoenaed in the Spring, far ahead of execution of a legally ordered search warrant. Attorney General Garland “personally approved” the search and called Trump’s bluff in a rare press conference. Former Federal prosecutor Renato Mariotti joins MSNBC’s Ari Melber saying the DOJ gave Trump every chance to turn over documents, even treating Trump with “kid gloves.”

The President of the United States, upon taking office, takes an oath to faithfully execute the laws of the United States.
I did the same when I became a deputy Sheriff in 1983.
When I retired 25 years later, every bit of information I collected, names, dates of birth, addresses, were left at the office.

I think it's great that a group of Librarians are the first ones to stand up to Trump and make him follow the law.

"45" kept documents he stole for over a year and a half. With whom did he share the information on those documents.

The stress etched on Trump's face, when he exited from his NY deposition, is stark and visible. He looked every minute of his 75 years. The realization that he is facing either jail time or exile in Russia is finally hitting home. Hallelujah!

I owe Mr Garland a profound apology. I was one of those calling for his replacement due to my ill informed perceptions of inaction by the DOJ. Well played sir.

As a registered Republican, a relative immediately received yet another Trump email saying basically “The FBI raided my beautiful home. I need your help. Send me money right away!” Money for what? He doesn’t even bother to say what the funds are for anymore. Just “something bad happened to me, you should be upset, so send cash”. The way he bilks his devoted supporters is disgusting. From all reports from those in the inner circle, he despises them. He doesn’t want them near him or touching him. He makes fun of them. When will they catch on that their adoration goes one way?

I always had faith in Mr Garland. Quiet, methodical, precise, professional...leaving no wiggle room. Thank you sir.

Apparently he was in posession of documents about Nuclear weapons. It's worth noting he just hosted the Saudi backed golf tour on his property, while in possession of classified Nuclear weapons intelligence.

Wow! His attorney was present. He was issued a subpoena in advance. He lied again!

Garland is playing chess, and Trump doesn't even know how to play checkers... Smh...💯

That's the problem! If they stopped treating him "with kid gloves" and treated him like they would treat everyone else, he wouldn't believe he was above the law and better than everyone else!

Not to forget, the informant who told the FBI about the documents stored were not in a very secured area. When told of that, they had no choice but to move in.

Why did a former president bring over 15 boxes of classified, top secret, and other White House documents to his private residence after he left office? That is beyond bizarre. Why did he not give them all back when requested? What was he planning to do with them? He knew it was all illegal, because he even signed a law in 2018 stiffening the penalties for such a thing. I don't care what party he belongs to. If any president or federal employee did this, I would be extremely concerned. What were his plans for this information?

The astute Mr. Garland delivered a crystal clear statement. Thank you sir. Nothing more needs to be said.

What I keep asking myself is, why would someone want to keep boxes of classified information, some reported to be about nuclear weapons, in their basement? What possible use would they be for that person? The only answers I can think of involve using the information for one's own personal gain by selling it or using it as leverage.
