It already looks like they're veering far off the books.

I waited half a century for this. The library of Terminus made me weep, it was so perfect. The plots they have added are very cool- waiting on the Seldon Crisis!

I can't find this show anywhere. Almost forgot that it came out. Just like Childhood's End, loved the books, and was so excited to this. Wish the show was available in the United States☹️

I have NOT seen this yet, but will get to this show during the beginning of November (I have to finish The Servant for Halloween... I'm behind). From what I heard, this show takes a crap on the original books and everyone who has read the books hates this show. However, I've never read the books and the special effects look good. I'll give Foundation a chance... but with caution. I hear the first few episodes are boring, but the show gets better... allegedly.

Why does everything have just one, pompous, 'epic' tone these days? Hans Zimmer noises, slow-mo awestruck excerpt, CLANG, asteroid field, BOOM, people fleeing a catastrophe....

Pavlovian responses in the comments shows I'm wrong and this works on the people it's supposed to work on

The series got really good even though episode 1 was unimpressive.
My biggest issue is with Gaal's character. She is supposed to cast a mathematician, but acts nothing like one.
Mathematician is someone who is composed, immersed in its own deep thoughts, having its actions guided by logic instead of emotions.
Gaal on the other hand is completely opposite - she is emotionally driven, does not display any composure or critical thinking and quite frankly is just annoying.
So naturally, I was not impressed by episode 1 and I certainly was not about to stomach 9 more episodes of her in this series.
Thankfully, episode 2 introduces Salvor, a much more interesting and multi-layer character, like a breath of fresh air after suffocation.

So in conclusion, I would recommend this tv show, even to the fans of the Expanse, who have tasted the work of exception.

I imagine Asimov is probably turning in his grave at this point. Or maybe he's just happy so many people get to experience something based on his work, but I can't imagine he'd agree with the dumbing down of his work, or the political subtext that's been added in.

I had the misfortune to watch episodes 1 and 2 of this complete travesty and my vain hope that they wouldn't have trashed Foundation has turned out to be just that - vain. It would have been more honest to say 'here is yet another woke-fest very loosely based on a plot and a few names stolen from Asimov'. To list everything that's wrong with this would take a week but for starters: there is ONE emperor not 3, Gaal Dornick was MALE and featured for about 20 pages in the whole series. Eto Demerzel = R.Daneel Olivaw = male and nobody (other than, eventually, Seldon) KNEW he was a robot, Raych Seldon was short stocky and had a black moustache not tall, slim and Dornick's 'love interest' and he most certainly did NOT murder Seldon, the Vault is NOT some weird object floating in the sky... etc etc ad infinitum
