Create Better & Clean 3D Text Using Geometry Nodes In Blender | Easy Step-by-Step Tutorial

In this tutorial, we have discussed a simple process to create clean text in Blender using Geometry Nodes. In the traditional method, a text object often comes with a complex topology. It creates further issues in the downstream part like bending etc. Instead, you can use Geometry Nodes to create a better text which you can bevel or bend easily, without any distortions or artifacts. Please watch the video for the complete tutorial. If you have any question on this tutorial, please leave your comment below.

This is how a professional tutorial is created.
When I click on a tutorial, my expectation is to learn something new.
What I'm not interested in, is that your dog got sick on the carpet this morning, or that your neighbors play their music too loud.

These tutorials are ideal. They get to the point, and don't venture into unrelated issues.
Thanks for creating tutorials for the mused.

Thankss.. I don't expect the end (bevel) actually and thankyu so much.. now I know why I love this channel, because you explain how to make it and why we do with that way.

Thanks for this, it does make for cleaner text!

For something a little more flexible, rather than starting with a cube, start with a text object. In the text object settings, set the "Fill Mode" to none. Add your geoemtry node setup as shown in this video but rather than deleting the input geometry, use it as your start rather than the "String to Curves" node. Using this method allows more control over the text as you are just modifying a standard text object. You can have multi-line, single line, varying font weights, etc. It's the best of both worlds. Flexibility of the standard Blender text object but the cleaner geometry the node method will produce when set to N-gon.

I very much appreciate the straight way you use to explain how to do all sorts of things.
I would like to wnow how to produce a printable texture grid (window) made with Blender 3+ that could allow to 3D print all sort of images from .2 mm to 2m in thickness (with a more or less transparent filament), and from what I see you already did, I think that you are the guy who could easily teach your viewers how do that in a 5 minutes (or more) lesson!

What I found is that for rendering and applying a Material, you can add a Material, then add the Node: Set Material, Select the Material. And that may work fine for procedural materials, but not image materials. For them, you may have to apply the modifiers at which point you once again have to repair the topology and apply Smart UV in edit mode to get the best application of the image material to your text. Another trick you can try is to add a Value node in the Shader to the Mapping / Scale. That allows you to adjust the appearance of the Image Material. Some, possibly, useful (youtube) videos for text retopology are: The Right Way to Fix Text Topology in Blender, Blender - Quick Text Topology Fix. Or you can just do what I did and search for: Blender Fix Text Topology Remesh in youtube and pick the video that works for you.

Thanks for another excellent node video 👍 I prefer to build it step by step as explained, which is an easy task in the tutorials you and your team is submitting here 😊.

Using nodes is way different then the normal way BUT is so cool and how fonts can be customized. Haven't tried this YET but looking forward to doing it and was thinking of making this a template for making text in other future projects by copy and paste 😀.. again thank you for sharing your knowledge on Blender!

C4D 3d text Editor plus mograph is a dream and most time a pleasure to work ...with simple modifer remesh, deform etc. setup.
in blender simple text animation is a most time a broken workflow or more a try & error manual mesh hassle with remesh by hand ad so one .. creating deformable broken fraction text animation f.e.needed hours, days ..hope this change with this ...we are tiny Studio but maybe this will fix the Pipeline but most time we hsve not the time to develope creat great nodesetups ..
.inC4d this 3d text parts works with simple modifer and the great text Editor helps a lot..
but I hope the next week we try itand hoplfully it works .great thx...thx
The gsoc brings some tiny Update to work with 3d text but sadly it needs more work and Implementation will not happen ...

All worked well up to the bend deformer. That didn't work for me, even with your settings. Any idea why? I added the "empty", but no go.

hey thanks for the cool geometry node tutorial! I´m running blender 3.0, I think the "extrude mesh" node is not available in this version, I´ll update to check it out!

All of that just for a simple text with good topology… Wish Blender just made this simple.
