BMW E39 Not Communicating | OBD Port communication error fixed | Quick Fix | Scan tool won't connect

BMW E39 530d, not communicating to all the modules via Obd Port.

Try this fix, helped me solve the issue and I was able to scan all the modules.

Thanks for posting this very useful fix.
The high density foam under the carpet can absorb and hold a hell of a lot of water while the carpet appears dry on top, my connectors were totally knackered!

Man I wish I found your video sooner, I've had this problem for a while now and only recently have I found out about the X183 connecter, basically I couldn't scan anything but DME, then I saw a post on a forum to try and run a jumper from the OBD port pin-8 to the cluster and try to scan, almost everything worked except the ABS module which doesn't go through the cluster but rather directly through X183.

I have problem communication to EGS transmission module e39 530d 01/2000, i have 20 pin adapter under the hood, all modules i can read except the EGS module, whats the problem?

soo to three white cables are located in the passenger side on LHD? or in the same spot as this? I can only read out the engine code. and that's just with the obs 20 pin inside, I got also the round connector but that won't even connect.

i have intermittent problems with the scanner, so likely will be a bad connection or it is a instrument cluster. i have seen some inconsistnsies on the cluster itself on the beeps and being able to scroll thru the errors that it shows on the little display thanks for the vid i hope this solves for me

Mine is doing the exact thing. I haven’t checked for voltage between the ports but the white purple wire to gauge cluster is good and has no breaks I confirmed that with a ohm test. I’ll check driver footwell(USA) and see what I can find tomorrow. I have a missing panel there of trim so maybe previous owner let water run down there

I got the same car I have priblem I cant communicate to the Transmissions control Module.. Any Ideas?
