Emily Lee grew up in the Apostolic United Brethren. Her close friends included Christine Brown's younger sister. She attended school where Meri Brown and her siblings attended, Bonnie Barber was Emily's principal. When Kody came to dances, Emily distinctly remembers his need to be the center of attention. She also remembers her father, the prophet of the AUB being very upset about Kody going public with the show.

Now a mother of 5 children, Emily is speaking out for the first time about being raised with 5 moms and a dad that was never around. She wants church members to know the truth about her father, fans to understand the reality of families in the AUB & is urging TLC to cancel Sister Wives and start supporting survivors.

Thank you for watching this important interview. Emily Lee shares her harrowing story of being raised in the Apostolic United Brethren. Her father, David Watson, is the current prophet of the cult.

Emily wants everyone to know that there is help available if you need to leave Polygamy. She relied on the Holding Out Help in the years after she fled the abusive cult.

If you are local in Utah, Holding Out Help is in need of volunteers, safe houses, and supplies for adults and children that flee these groups.

If you wish to donate to the group that helped save Emily, please click here:

Please help Emily’s story be heard by liking, commenting and sharing this video. The more people that see this the higher likelihood that this will reach someone trapped inside.

Thanks for listening, giving space for Emily. Thanks to Emily for her bravery sharing her story, and for trusting WOACB to help her tell that story.

I have really struggled to watch Sister wives, since I'm often triggered, being a former plural wife. I have recently, after a lot of healing, watched some, and feel such love and respect for Meri, Christine, and Janelle. Christine is my cousin, and Meri was a childhood friend. My heart aches for their grief and abandonment. I have experienced that. And I am so happy for them, but there is a LOT of healing ahead for them. So much love for those who have awakened to the truth.

Funny that they don’t “trust the government “, but yet many don’t hesitate to take government benefits like EBT and Medicaid

I’ve known Emily for over 20 years. It’s so nice to hear her talk about her experience with the cult and leaving it. I’ve only known her as a wonderful Mother and Wife. She is a wonderful speaker. She has always been advanced in her vocabulary and how she conducts herself. Much love to you Emily!

I’m here for all the exposing! TLC should have some accountability when giving a plate form to all the cults!

thank you for not letting go of the racist aspect of this cult. people either deny it, glaze over it, or excuse it away. i’m glad that you won’t. ❤

It recently came out that Christine worked all day watching ALL of the children, then had a job in the evening, while she was pregnant. A conflict arose when she wanted Kody to tuck in her kids at night, and he wouldn't do it.

THE ONLY one rightfully calling out these cults for what they are and has since day one. She’s taken a shite ton of criticism from other youtubers nearly every time she DOES say they are a cult...and yet NEVER once backed down. It takes BALLZ to be the ONLY one to do something like this. Katie with the Crystal Balls! 🔮 🔮

My grandkids are mixed and the thought of anyone speaking about them as if they are less than human makes me sick. They are the light of my life, smart, gorgeous, funny, amazing kids.

I grew up in the AUB. So much of this sounds familiar to me. I attended the AUB school between 1973 and 1979. I knew the Watsons and the Barbers, but I was a lot older than anyone on Sister Wives. I left the group in 1984. I hadn't taken the time necessary to analyze the ideological problems. I was only 17. I just knew that what I was seeing was unfair and I was unhappy. That couldn't be right.

It takes a lot of courage to discuss this publicly. When you're simply telling your own story people come out of the woodwork to try to discredit your reputation. They can't challenge the truth of the stories told by people like Emily so that's what they do to try to prevent the truth from getting out.

I hope people speaking out about these abusive cults will encourage more and more people to tell about their horrific experiences and leave for good.

This interview has me super worried about Robyn's older daughters. They've been isolated in a home away from everyone, but Kody and Robyn. Neither one of those people believes in bodily autonomy, and think kody needs to be respected and obeyed above all else. So these 2 young women are trapped in a house with a narcissist that thinks he owns them?!

Omg I grew up same way! Very well explained!
I love all people & don’t care what color of skin they have. Love wins!
My dad came home 1 or 2 times a week. We were always in fear, same response of the yelling and screaming. We were told when are dad came home to hug him, run up & hug him. It was difficult.
I remember when an uncle came to visit he brought a box of Lucky Charms I’d never seen a box of Lucky Charms or ever eaten Lucky Charms.
Potato’s and bread, going behind grocery stores, looking in dumpsters to eat!
Yes Therapy is key!
Yup we were required to call other wives Aunt.
The 3rd wife for me was a safe space. She was always loving, kind & cared. My childhood memories are with her. We have a relationship today & I love her.

So grateful for this story and her courage to tell it. I wish Katie would listen more. She interrupted her so many times, often in ways that felt like she’s proving that she knows a lot. It was frustrating as an observer.

Well, we finally understand where Mary gets her controlling behavior. She learned it from her mother. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. This was absolutely incredible

Thank you Katie for this interview. I was so naive about polygamy when I started watching Sister Wives. Thank you for educating us about what is really going on. And thank you Emily for sharing your story.

Keep speaking out, you are saving so many women and children. I can’t believe this is allowed in the United States. Religion cannot protect these predators. They need to be exposed and prosecuted. Thank you for all your hard work.
