Показать описание
This is the drydock that was built on an old arm of the canal for Edward Wilson's chemical works. This works created sulfuric acid before creating washing soda before being abandoned and demolished by 1909. The are is heavily contaminated and supports many orchids making it a site of special scientific interest.

The drydock is the only surviving structure on the site but it is in very poor condition and the arm leading to it has been infilled for many years. The dock is easy to see and its also easy to see how it operated as nearly all of the structure still survives. This drydock is unlikely to be restored due to its location and condition but it is still an historic structure on the canal.
